With eternal gratitude, we remember.
In August 2021, Altus Mayor Robert Garrison proclaimed August 10th each year to be First Responder Day. This day will honor the men and women who serve our community in fire service, law enforcement, and emergency medical service, whether paid or volunteer. A committee was also formed to create a memorial for those first responders in Jackson County who made the ultimate sacrifice and died in the line of duty. The memorial was dedicated on July 15, 2023, and stands on the east side of the Altus City Park. Currently, ten souls are honored and remembered at the site.
Surrounding the memorial are personalized pavers. You can purchase a brick to honor a first responder in your life or to show your support. Our goal is for those who have served as a first responder in Jackson County to be represented and remembered. This would make a great gift for those who have served so courageously! Replica bricks for your personal use are also available.
This site automatically keeps track of our orders. If you choose to pay by check, please contact us as soon as possible to submit your donation.
