Walk where Legacy Lives

Legacy Courtyard on the Hill is envisioned as a sacred and welcoming commemorative space on the grounds of Lawndale First Baptist Church that honors the rich faith, history, and community heritage that have shaped this place. Situated at the historic site of the original flagpole near the old Douglas School, the courtyard will serve as a lasting tribute to those who paved the way through sacrifice, perseverance, education, and faith. Through engraved legacy bricks, memorial features, and spaces for reflection, this courtyard will invite generations to remember the past while investing in the future. Grounded in the theme, Honoring Those Who Paved the Way, this project celebrates the footsteps of those who came before us and calls us to leave faithful footprints for those yet to come. Walk Where Legacy Lives is more than a slogan—it is an invitation to step into a story, honor a heritage, and become part of a living legacy.
