North Platte Canteen Public Art Piece

Honoring the Past, Shaping the Future

The North Platte Canteen, a volunteer-driven effort that served over six million troops passing through the city’s train depot during World War II, exemplified the community’s generosity and unity.  This art piece commemorates the spirit of the Canteen and honors the sacrifices made by both the servicemen and the volunteers who selflessly supported them. This pivotal chapter in the city’s history serves as a tribute to the past, while paving the way for a vibrant and connected future.  The Public Art Piece is an interactive sculpture that recreates the experience of a troop train arriving at the historic North Platte Canteen during a stop in WWII. This sculpture grouping allows viewers to recreate the experience of pulling up to the North Platte Depot, day or night, and see it from the point of view as a trooper. The Canteen District will also be paying homage to community members and sponsors on the brick wall behind the memorial. Individuals or businesses will be able to purchase bricks in memorial of family members or friends involved in the original Canteen, or anyone wishing to support the cause of the Canteen spirit.

How to Order:

Just follow the simple step-by-step process below to place your order. Be sure you are happy with your brick design as it will look very similar to the image on your computer when completed.

Please email design@thatsmybrick.com with:
1) Signed and completed copy of the Letter of Agreement attachment below
2) Black & White, High Resolution file of your Custom/Business Logo
3) Please notate that it is for “CANTEENDist”
4) That's My Brick will notify you if the logo has been approved
and it's availability to place your order with custom graphic tile level.
